Gosling, one of the field's most innovative researchers, dispatches teams of scientific snoops to poke around dorm rooms and offices, to see what can be learned about people simply from looking at their stuff. By exploring our private worlds (desks, bedrooms, even our clothes and our cars), he shows not only how we showcase our personalities in unexpected-and unplanned-ways, but also how we create personality in the first place, communicate it others, and interpret the world around us. Does what's on your desk reveal what's on your mind? Do those pictures on your walls tell true tales about you? And is your favorite outfit about to give you away? For the last ten years psychologist Sam Gosling has been studying how people project (and protect) their inner selves. ![]() ![]() ![]() “People are seeking, ‘What can I do about this?’ ” “Collectively, we are becoming increasingly aware of the impact of personal trauma and generational trauma,” says Arielle Schwartz, Ph.D., a licensed clinical psychologist in Boulder, Colorado. From systemic racism and mass shootings to natural disasters and increased awareness of sexual abuse, trauma is everywhere, even to the point that trauma memes are actually a thing. It’s more like a series of little breaks and the vibe shift happening around understanding trauma and how psychological pain can cause lasting physical damage. With Brianne and Jerry Whitman as parents, Cherish is given the kind of adoration and coddling that even upper-class Black parents can't seem to afford-and it creates a dissonance in her best friend that Farrah can exploit. ![]() ![]() The film was a commercial success, grossing 43.5 million, against a budget of 8.5 million. Wouldn’t say friends or enemies with benefits, frenemies with benefits (massive downplay on the enemy thing though). ‘The DUFF’ is based on a novel of the same name by Kody Keplinger, who wrote it when she was herself an 18-year-old high school senior. If you think this book isn’t going to be a little risky because you’ve watched the film (which I haven’t) but apparently she licks his face, woooahhh you’re in for a shock. The ones who have these ambiguous qualities just get to me okay! What really frustrated me was how he clearly did like Bianca but she couldn’t see because of his actions and his reputation around school. The hottie, the badboy and yes readers I fell for him just like I did with Jace and Will and Draco. Equally, going round using the high school hottie for distraction isn’t going to get you anywhere except make you fall head over heels for him but if you think you’re too smart for it you wouldn’t worry. Personally, I think she does it because she presumes if she does it she’s less likely to get hurt if you just live in the reality, not trying to see anything more in the people that surround you, it doesn’t make you think or hope you can try to change them. ![]() She doesn’t try and sugar-coat anything or look at her life through rose-tinted spectacles nope, it’s just living life in straight-up reality. I adore how blunt and honest she is but not negatively which I found unusual. Our protagonist is Bianca, she does make me laugh. ![]() |
