Wouldn’t say friends or enemies with benefits, frenemies with benefits (massive downplay on the enemy thing though). ‘The DUFF’ is based on a novel of the same name by Kody Keplinger, who wrote it when she was herself an 18-year-old high school senior. If you think this book isn’t going to be a little risky because you’ve watched the film (which I haven’t) but apparently she licks his face, woooahhh you’re in for a shock. The ones who have these ambiguous qualities just get to me okay! What really frustrated me was how he clearly did like Bianca but she couldn’t see because of his actions and his reputation around school. The hottie, the badboy and yes readers I fell for him just like I did with Jace and Will and Draco. Equally, going round using the high school hottie for distraction isn’t going to get you anywhere except make you fall head over heels for him but if you think you’re too smart for it you wouldn’t worry. Personally, I think she does it because she presumes if she does it she’s less likely to get hurt if you just live in the reality, not trying to see anything more in the people that surround you, it doesn’t make you think or hope you can try to change them. ![]() She doesn’t try and sugar-coat anything or look at her life through rose-tinted spectacles nope, it’s just living life in straight-up reality. I adore how blunt and honest she is but not negatively which I found unusual. Our protagonist is Bianca, she does make me laugh. ![]()
